Meet the Actors

Marquita Smooth-Sanders was born in the small town of Waynesboro,Ms. She moved to Slidell,LA in 2014, just a year before she married the love of her life, Kevin Sanders. In 2017, she made her first appearance on stage as “Black Mary” in the well known stage play, “Gem of the Ocean”. She became apart of Cutting Edge Family in 2018 as “Nettie” in the dynamic stage play; The Color Purple”. Since then, she has made appearances on the cutting edge stage as one of “The Supremes” in the “The Supremes Tribute”, as “Etta James” in “DIVAS LIVE”, as one of the Raylettes in “Ray Charles Tribute Show”, as “Sandy” in “Grease Live”, as “Lorrell” in “Dreamgirls the Musical”, & “Tina Turner Tribute Show”. Marquita is a believer of Jesus, and chooses to use her God given gift to spread love, joy, and inspiration wherever she goes. Theatre is one of those places. As a young child & now as an adult, she utilizes her gift mostly in church, singing gospel songs of encouragement & praise. Marquita thanks her family for grooming & training her gift, & dedicates this performance to them. Extremely grateful to Brian & The Cutting Edge Theatre family for another chance to grace the stage along side some of the best actors & actresses for the second time as NETTIE! The Color Purple 2024: TAKE 2!
