A passionate advocate for the arts, artists, and children’s literacy, Wichterich has dedicated some of his children’s books and artwork to the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany. He also collaborated with the museum and St. Tammany Parish student artists on the butterfly art installation unveiled in 2025.
Deeply committed to community engagement, Wichterich has served as a judge for the Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers and Collectors Guild and as a juror for the City of Slidell’s 2026 Salad Days Art Exhibit. He is currently developing several major community arts initiatives, including Arc of Angels, a collaborative exhibition celebrating local artists. In addition, he is creating community art projects in partnership with the Rotary Club of Slidell and Hospice House, while designing and painting a series of public murals for Ducksworth Park through Keep Slidell Beautiful and the City of Slidell.

His work and community contributions have been featured in The Times-Picayune, The St. Tammany Farmer, NOLA.com, and Social Northshore. He has twice been honored as The Northshore’s Best Artist of East St. Tammany Parish by Sophisticated Woman magazine, and his artwork has been featured on four covers of Slidell Magazine.
Through his artwork, public service, and dedication to fostering creativity, Joshua B. Wichterich continues to leave a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Southeast Louisiana, using art to inspire, connect, and strengthen the communities he serves.
